All The Right Type Online – Review
All The Right Type 4 – Online based typing with games and exercises

All The Right Type 4 is online based touch typing software which will teach you the steps to type more effectively, and also improves speed and accuracy. All major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Chrome support ATRT Online.
ATRT 4 offers a single-user home version and a multi-user edition. The latter is suitable for schools and other educational organizations. I will review All The Right Type 4 (ATRT 4) in this post based on my own experience.
All The Right Type 4 – Overview
ATRT Typing uses a scientifically proven methodology to teach you better typing skills and is suitable for individual learners as well as educational institutions. Asking for 10-15 minutes of your time per day, the app will help improve your skills systematically on all levels. It is mainly targeting beginners but also people who struggle to type well or simply wish to learn to type faster.
Let’s see below how it performs among popular tutors such as Typesy (see website) or KAZ Typing (see website).

You will also get feedback when practicing your skills in the form of statistics showing speed, hand positions, and accuracy rates. There are numerous exercises and drills available for different goals and audiences.
Accessibility – It is accessible through web browsers and is also available as an iOS application or as a download. If you log in on a browser you can practice lessons on any PC or laptop. Subscribers can also download the iOS app for free and enjoy the learning process on their iPad or iPhone.
Free trial – It is recommended to try All The Right Type Online before you actually buy it. There is a one-day free trial available for the single-user version and a 30-days free trial period for the school (multi-user) license. This should be plenty of time.
Note – Keep in mind, the home version lacks a few features of the school version, mainly administrative and multi-user ones. Both versions are nevertheless equally effective to teach you essential typing techniques.

ATRT Online – Features

Lessons Standard – Interactive tutorials are the core feature of All The Right Type. In total, you can choose from a pool of more than 80 lessons that apply the so-called ‘lesson sequencing learning method’ developed by keyboarding specialists. ATRT Standard is suitable for beginners who need to learn correct hand positioning first.
Lessons Standard Junior – Based on the same principles, ATRT Junior lessons are shorter and involve cartoon animations to cater to children or young students. There is a total of 93 lessons with a focus on posture as well.
Spelling Exercises – Typing accurately is one thing, knowing how to spell is the other skill in need to become good in written communication. The tutor offers a list of hard-to-spell words suitable for 1st to 5th graders. You can also practice with a list of the most common English words to become confident in this area.
Games – Let’s talk about the game-based exercises which aim to make learning fun and interactive. All The Right Type offers different types of games here. Lesson games will practice what you have already learned, while theme games will train your overall skills. Topics range from science to math to geography to match a wide range of interests. However, don’t expect a smooth 21st-century gaming experience here.
Interface – As mentioned as above, the interface and graphics may look a bit dated to some. You may find colors a bit too saturated as well or font quality somehow pixely. However, it is not too bad as the tutor is actually easy to use. More importantly, what counts is the built-in technology, and this works quite well, for example, the animated keyboard showing proper finger positions.
Tracking When you choose an exercise and complete it, ATRT Typing tracks your accuracy, words you typed per minute, the number of errors you made and time is taken to complete the exercise. Furthermore, the system will analyze your fingers and their performances.
Typing errors will be highlighted in red color, and you will not be allowed to move on to the next key until you correct that mistake. This is a great feature that forces you to be conscious about your keystrokes and boost your accuracy rates. On the flip side, correcting every mistake I sometimes found disturbing my work and learning flow.
Reporting – The All The Right Type Home version lacks some comprehensive administrative features but are sufficient to allow tracking of your own progress and to create in-depth reports based on your performance. The program may prompt you to redo a lesson or exercise at this stage.
Other features – There are timed tests you can run to assess your current skills. You may also want to sharpen your transcribing skills; a range of dictation games is available here. Theme pages allow customizing the look of ATRT Online to your own preference.
Certificate – Teachers can generate a certificate for students who have finished a course. Furthermore, a range of e-stickers can be released for those doing well, and for everyone in need of some motivational support. Kids just love stickers.
Good to know: Users who are in the US or speak/write US-based English will find some of the words spelled in British English as this tool is developed by a Canadian company.
All The Right Type 4 vs Other Products

When comparing All The Right Type 4 with other premium tutors on the market, for example, Typesy or Ultrakey or KAZ Typing, it quickly turns out that flexibility, customization and interface are the rather weaker areas of ATRT Typing.
Typesy allows a user to create custom lessons, import practice tests or create one and customize font, whereas All The Right Type has excluded this essential feature from the home version and limits it to the school version alone.
Furthermore, the number of typing exercises are lower in All The Right Type compared to Ultrakey and Typesy. Regarding price, you will also need to pay more for ATRT Online than for the options mentioned above.

All The Right Type 4 Online – Review Verdict

All The Right Type Online offers features similar to other top-rated products available on the market but is priced above average if you look for a license longer than 6 months. ATRT’s fun and interactive exercises will, furthermore, create a supportive environment to make you enjoy the process of learning to touch type.
Potential downsides include a less appealing interface with oldish-looking graphics and over-saturated colors. What might push people away is a lack of core features that seem to be the default setting in the Home editions of competitors such as multiple user accounts, customized lessons, video tutorials, or the license time you can use the tool.
What does the School License include?
This version is not only of interest for teachers and schools but for families or groups of friends as well. It involves a multi-user license as well as administrative features. Teachers can create class reports, assign students, create classes, or group people together to focus on specific tasks and skills.
System requirements
All versions of Windows are supported. All versions of Mac OS, OSX and Android are supported. iPads will need version iOS7 or upwards though. All browsers supported running the latest versions or at least IE 5, Safari 5 or Firefox 8.
Is there any type of support?
All the Right Type offers free E-mail and phone support for technical issues or questions regarding the setup and how to use the program.
All The Right Type Download
You can download the most current version from the company’s website or subscribe to the online edition either with the Home or School license.
What is the pricing scheme?
If you wish to sign-up for an online school subscription, you can choose from various levels depending on how many students you expect to attend your class. The same applies to learning in groups or families wanting a separate account for each of their children.
As an example, 1-5 students will cost $49.95 for a period of 12-months. A license to host 1-100 students will cost $285 per year. Note: Prices may change or have changed already. The Home subscription is $8.95 for one month or $29.95 for 6 months.
